People ask me how I shoot these abstract images. ...as you can see, it is a messy procedure. I have boxes and boxes of colorful props and I am always finding new things to use. By using my macro lens, I cone in very close and pick up just the edges of things and then blur the rest. I bounce color in and use only natural light. The "box" that I am shooting in is just a white frosted storage box. It diffuses the light perfectly....and I am shooting outside on a rickety 3 legs platform that my neighbor made for me and that I had to glue back together recently as the wood is starting to rot.

Other artists have whole studios and set ups but not me. It would be nice to have a studio, and there is a room in the house here that I could use, but there is no light. As it is, I have about a 3hr window to shoot as I only get sun from about 2:30 -5.

I did a job in a hospital in Boston along with a bunch of other artists. The art consultancy that used my work was doing a promotional video and brochure for the installation and asked to interview me and come take photos of me and my "studio"...HA! I think they thought I was weird cause I said no...tried to explain, but gave up. Being an artist you are allowed to have your eccentricities ....but I always think people will think less of me if they know how I do what I do...It's like seeing the wizard behind the curtain.
