a Memory to click on
Had this memory of a concert I went to in Central Park one hot summer. It was an African Fest. I adore African Music, especially Baba Maal. I had been taking African Dance lessons so dressed, prepared to dance for a few hours. ...that was the main reason I went alone as I knew that I would know no one and could be free. ...It was fantastic and so hot...Everyone was standing on the folding chairs dancing. Maybe there were 200 people there with various bands...lots of Africans in traditional garb. I danced and danced and suddenly it started pouring...it was fantastic! It was one of the most joyful occasions in my life. I remember walking home north through the empty bright green park...still pouring...feeling so alive and happy...and it reminds me of Baba Maal who I have seen a few times...I have always wanted to go to Senegal and I still hope to get there to experience it...he is the king of music there. He sings in French as well as Sengalese.
